Photo Jul 06 6 39 27 AMI have written about the longing for connection in a previous post, but there is an aspect of it that I have always wanted to take a bit further. That is commonalities. Living in Miami for so many years since childhood, I had become accustomed to a very eclectic group of people. Even though each area has a higher concentration of a specific group of people, for the most part you are surrounded by a fruit salad of races, ethnicities, personalities, etc. This causes people to relate to each other on how they don’t relate to each other. In other words, it’s their differences that makes the connection. When I started traveling, I realized that this is not the case everywhere else, and this only holds true as long as your differences still fit inside the BOX, the standard model of how an American life should be lived.

Photo Jul 05 8 42 01 AM    In searching for the perfect education for my children I came to the realization that what I felt my children needed to succeed in every aspect of their life was either not offered or not easily found. So, me, just a regular mom with a semi-regular upbringing, took it upon myself to find as many programs and teachers, and put them all in one comprehensive portal to make it easy for everyone to find and use. I think most parents, as they are holding their newborn, sit back and go through all the ways they wished their life had been different. When choosing the right education for my children, I went through in my head all the things I wish I had learned at an early age.

ABOUT KAREN

Photo May 23 3 31 17 PM

In the search to offer her children an education beyond their usual surroundings, and seeking to exist outside her chronic illness, Karen Matamoros created a life of exploration. From traveling the world to diving within, resetting boundaries, curating an intentional & artistic life, and redefining what entrepreneurship while being a homeschooling single mom looks like. Her ability to create freedom within her own life has led her to offer coaching to parents that wish to create freedom in life, business and homeschooling while creating daily flow and cultivating their relationship with their children. At the core of her work, she believes in catering to the child as a whole, and thus she offers kids and teens classes that cater to the entrepreneurial spirit and to help children grow into their dreams. She has also founded Project: KAring, an alternative education portal for kids focused on the body, mind, and soul. She created this community to make free form education easily accessible to every child, through a directory, forums and scholarships. She uses her artistic expression to paint her world with intentionality, from curating each piece of her home and garden to organizing magical lived experiences. Although an entrepreneur her whole life, she started to truly live her passion when she sold her 6-figure business in 2017, and set out to travel full-time with her two daughters for many years before settling in Miami to create a cozy home for her children to grow into young women.
